I find it more interesting the big difference between Vettel and Webber's laps. Vettel was 4 tenths faster than Webber in Sector 1, but Mark was well over a second faster in Sector 2. Vettel's times correlate with the Mercs times, suggesting very low DF trim. Is Mark on a different set-up than Seb? Could be testing out both setups to see which has more gain. Webber's times are more in line with the McLarens and Ferraris, though to be fair his Sector 2 time was quicker.

Wonder what the time penalty for that is?

He will no doubt make a big chunk of that up when it comes to the twisty second section.

Edit: Ok so 4 tenths up, and lose one second in the next sector.... seems this is a bit of a no brainer in terms of running a thicker wing.
More could have been done.

Could someone post a link to the site with live timing, where you don't have to register? I'd love to look at the times ;) Thanks in advance!

Looking at the timing (even though it's practice, nothign is certain of course), he's onyl losing a couple of tenths in sector 1, but gaining a great amount (1+ second) in sector 2. Rosberg, to put it in perspective, put down a 31.8 in S1 compared with Marks 32.4, but ended up 1 second slower overall in lap time!

I think it's fairly safe to say which is the ebtter way to go around here, with these track conditions anyways.

EDIT: Sorry mate, quoted ya prior to you editing the psot :D

And mith, theres not much to registering on the F1 website. Takes about a minute at most. You can always unsubcribe to the spam they e-mail anyways :)

Is he really? Could you post the sector times between the two RBRs?

I wouldn't pay much attention to those as those are showing best sector times for each driver, rather than sector times from that driver's best lap. McLaren were experimenting with downforce levels and others probably were messing around with the setups too; so that could show sector 1 from a low downforce run and sector 2 from a high downforce run

We have to revisit our conclusion that RedBull does carry more drag ...
http://www.formula1.com/results/season/ ... _trap.html
Vettel second quickest and Webber setting the best time with 10th quickest topspeed?

Or are they running low fuel? But then Vettel would be in front of Webber...strange.

It looks like Vettel is trying a Mercedes like setup configuration and it is in fact emulating their strengths (trapspeeds )and weaknesses dead slow in the twisty
bits ...
But I heard Rocky asking Vettel to apply DRS 100m later during FP2 session ,was this Eau rouge or somewhere else

Webber with a little less top speed is gaining 1.5s in the middle sector over Vettel but vewttel is .5seconds quicker in T1and practically equal times in T3..
the operating window of RB7 is not as big as it seems...

Trying to draw any conclusion from the 5-10 dryish laps that any team got to run in that FP2 is near impossible. I don't think you can really back that up yet.

I don't think we can read anything into the timings for that matter. A lot of teams were experimenting with setups, so that would probably have affected both their best sector times as well as trap speeds. Do we even know which drivers got an options lap? I know Mark did

I saw option tyres on both Mercs, the McLarens and on Alonso's car. As you said nothing can be read into these times. The weather "should" be better Saturday and Sunday, though I wouldn't be willing to bet on the accuracy of a weather report at Spa 8)

Yeah, I saw that. From distance it was pretty hard to distinguish him from Rosberg! It had "Jordan" written on it and some other thing I can't remember at the moment #-o
The special Helmet is to do with the 20th Anniversary of his F1 debut which was with Jordan

Yeap. All very true. I think most teams will probably go for a 50-50 setup, but what do I know. Roll on FP3
