I just hate how everyone goes on and bash Senna and criticise Renault's decision to replace Heidfeld. Even Peter Sauber went to the press and said it's a big mistake to put Senna in the car. Senna hasn't even done qualify/race yet and everyone already assume he is a bad driver.
+1 - he is certainly good enough to be given a shot, and Heidfeld wasn't really delivering the expected performance. Give him two races, see how he does, then reassess. Far better than just sticking with a combination that wasn't working.
I thought Renault made a great decision to replace Heidfeld (no offense to Heidfeld's fans). Heidfeld had a lot more experience than Petrov, I was expecting Petrov to be blown away. Yet Petrov has been out-qualifying him all season and they are merely separated by 2 points on the drivers championship. Renault said themselves they are actually relying on Petrov to give feedbacks for development, which is surprising considering Heidfeld should be the one doing that given his experience. Renault was looking for a driver to really lead the team, but Heidfeld hasn't really been up to that job.
Let's be honest, Petrov is considered to be a mediocre driver on the current grid. If you are paying a driver who can merely keep up with a rookie/pay driver, then why keep him? Renault had every right to explore their options, and I think they made a great choice to go with Senna.
