I believe that Hamilton's first reprimand was before the three strikes rule was put in place, so it doesn't count toward the total.

A site showing the highlights (15 mins) of the qualifying from the BBC you can see the incident between Hamilton and Maldonado from an Onboard Camera :

Hamilton wanted to bully PM, and PM wanted to just swipe his front wing off; of course he had no way of knowing Hamilton was planning to bully him, so there was a much bigger impact than he had anticipated. Reprimand for LH seems right, but PM's actions definitely deserved more than a 5 place grid drop.

About Senna. From his Gp2 days, people following him closely knew he was special. Winning in Silverstone in soaking wet conditions by a mile, and then repeating the same performance at spa (at least until his race was ruined for a pit lane infringement) plus his flawless victory in Monaco were all signs he was no ordinary racing driver. He did what he had to do today. Tomorrow he must not thrash the car and pick up some points.

Okay now we have a good quality video about the collision between LH and PM. From the TV camera at 2:58 Lewis makes a move towards PM but I think just sees him in the mirror and straightens the wheel. After that, if you watch from the onboard camera 3:20 onwards it's quite clear LH is holding the wheel pretty much straight and even makes a gesture with his hand probably saying "come on get past already". PM does the rest of the job. Based on this footage, we can only blame LH for his twitch towards PM at 2:58. That's hardly a reprimand don't you think ? But PM's swipe across the track towards LH in my books deserves more than a 5 place grid drop, deliberately or not.

this twitch thing is a straw man arguement by the way.
watch any of Vettel's pole position starts when he gets attacked and you witness a swipe, much worse than a twitch.
It's silly to suggest a twitch is malicious or even "causing avoidable accident".

FIA have some explaining to do for that one.

Where was the collision?

Anyway wonder what weather we're having tommrow?

Pastor really made himself famous for the wrong reason. For once, Hamilton is a victim. hehehe... That said, I think Hamilton will be very strong in the race especially if the weather is cool.

Vettel's pole is amazing and it happened so fast! I think Vettel's car is setup for pure dry weather. That may explain why he was consistently slower than most top guys when it was wet.

Great job by Senna, he has really impressed me and shown the world how useless Nick H really was!

Both Ham and Mal are at fault in that collision, Mal for taking a swipe at Ham and Ham for not being smart enuf to brake and let Mal go on his merry way.

I think no one really knows what setup everyone else is; but the trend is that everyone's saying that they're on dry setups. We can't even depend on speed traps because I believe the trap is on the exit of Raidillon; so it could also be that a wet setup would improve traction out of Raidillon

Are you serious, I cant believe that Maldonado got only a 5 place grid penalty and that they reprimanded Hamilton, astonishing.

I hope the Hurricane holds out long enough not to take out the dish so I can see the race.

As they say, it takes two to tango!

The stewards have far more info available than we do and clearly they saw that Hamilton wasn't as innocent as he claimed and frankly the video evidence clearly shows he could have avoided the clash if he had used his noggin.

Of course it takes 2, Maldonado had to have someone to crash into, wouldn't have been so good if he just crashed by himself.
Have the stewards actually said why Hamilton has been reprimanded?

The bottom four in Q3 did not qualify. That is factual.

Did the stewards let them in the race despite not qualifying? Aparently not. Here is the FIA qualifying report signed by the stewards--

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre/f1 ... cation.pdf

The bottom four are not given qualifying numbers in the report, nor is there any mention of letting them in despite not qualifying. There appears to be no other press release related to this matter (12 hours after qualy). The bottom four will not race.

I'm impressed with the FIA and the stewards on this one. I thought they would cave and let everyone into the race, or at least let the popular Schumacher in. However, they proved my instinct wrong, and upheld the basic written rules. The bottom four may go home now.

I have nothing against these teams and/or drivers (I am actually a fan of HRT) but if the FIA has a 107% rule then they need to apply it, both for safety and for maintaining the quality of show.

Well done.
