It really boils down to the fact that Senna and Schumacher changed the game.
Do you really think it was so easy back in the day?
Right up front, check out the mirrors. In Jackies day they were so small and just a buzzing blur...Watch in the onboard camera work today, they are steady and you can actually see in them.
It's is simply a matter of respect and fair play,,,something long gone in this world and especially in racing.

In Jackie's day he could see more. The cars were shorter and smaller. Today the car's have more limited vission.
It's easier to overtake in one of the older cars than the more modern cars.

People mention Vettel and Alonso as an example of pushing a driver off track. I don't think that is really a good example. Vettel had room and he had time to prepare himself to go off track if needs be. Vettel on Alonso is overrated, Rb7 had the grip and the speed differential.
Let me see him try that with both of them going the same speed.

Anyway what i am talking about is what shumacher does more often. That isn't good defending.

I respect jackie as a driver and for what he's accomplished but its quite laughable the things he comes out with, senna and schumacher not in the top 5? pleasee.

Has anyone thought that no driver would hear the propsed proximity sensors also? An engine is loud enough through corners let alone max revs on a straight.

if they can hear radio messages from the pits they could he hear radio messages from sensors on the side of the car

Yes in mine and others opinion it went wrong when they didn't sit Senna down and take him to task. IF you read about him, they cut him slack and let him get away with running people off the track all the way back to karts and FF.

It seems that overtaking won't need to be such a discussion in the future. I swear, to "improve" Formula One, the process is to destroy it.
