Sorry, nothing to do with the new Caterham, I just hate the level of hyperbole people use when either talking about ugly F1 cars, or the rules.
My reference for a curvaceous car is this one:
But if you think the 2012 Caterham is a sexy car by all means you're free to do so.
The same way that I'm free to throw up when I look at it.
PS: Even the 2012 Caterham's own designers are saying it's ugly.
Now that's a real beaut!!!!
I think that the cars of the early 90's are some of the best looking ever, however I also think that the cars of the late 90's, after the constructors began copying the high noses of the Benetton's are some of the ugliest ever.
I think that in general low nosed cars look better but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
So I wouldn't agree that F1 cars get uglier EVERY year, we just seem to go through some periods where the cars are uglier than others.
Anyway back on topic it will be interesting to see how many others go down this route.
I would have thought that a steep step in the nose like that would form a bit of a barrier for airflow passing over the top and that a gradual smooth incline would have been better.
However I know very little about aerodynamics, I understand that this design allows as much air as possible to flow under and around the car to reach the diffusor but perhaps someone could explain how it would effect airflow over the top of the nose.
