it rotates. It's not always him.
Ah, that's why it doesn't always sound like him :D
as he does do during FP btw, then it'll be fine.
It's more like a talkshow in free practice. I think it's because of the irrelevance of the results and events. Relatively.
Yeah, the point was more that if he tones it down to that level, it's much more suited to tv commentary rather than radio.
Lazenby as well seemed much more relaxed already for the second race..
I still miss Jake. He had this weird ability to seemingly juxtapose everything. If they were talking tyres and wanted to move to the physical challenge of driving in F1, he'd have a thread connecting the two. Always. I don't know how he does it. Lazenby to me feels sloghtly "cold" and "metallic." Like he's there to do a job. Jake seems to me like a relaxed, passionate fan.
He might have been able to and good on him because that is an important part of that particular job, but Humphrey seemed no more a casual fan to me than Lazenby. Everyone can come up with stories about how their dad used to take them to the track. Who is going to know any better?

Also, I don't really care for the "ol' boys havin' a laugh" vibe that they were more and more going towards and the ever more ridiculous situations that inevitably pushed Eddie Jordan in. I wasn't ever a fan of his, but they didn't help his cause. And his shirts might have been colourful, but they had squat to do with F1. As long as everyone on the team seems happy to do the job they are there to do, that's all the casual I'm looking for and I will maintain that Lazenby does that job just as well as Humphrey.

The delayed BBC has been great. I now realize how much time I was wasting watching some pretty pathetic TV. Some pretty pathetic, not all, and the BBC package is a good length. Ben Edwards does as good a job as he did years ago on Eurosport - knowledgeable, excitable and has an eye for detail. The only thing I miss is Martin Grumble's ramble up the grid before the race.

I suspect that the Beeb are still supplying live feed to some of their overseas customers.

Apparently new piracy hacking plot by Murdochs News is putting BskyB in hot water.

This year will be interesting we may be seeing an empire slowly sinking by the way side.

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Yeah they are very good. Better than Sky IMO. THe only good thing sky has going for them is Brundle and the fancy graphics. But Brundle alone is not enough for me to pay for Sky.

I get the live BBC audio stream over the sky feed on TSN.
I get the Speed coverage... which is OK.
I watch the Sky Free Practices Online

I was in portugal for australia , and spain for malaysia

in view of the time difference and there being no free transmission in portugal I watched both the edited qually and edited highlights of the race on line on BBC iPlayer ;in spain I watched qually on BBC iPlayer and the race live on free terrestrial TV

I was very pleased with qually , better than live for me because it cut out all the verbiage , just left the action

edited highlights of the race was actually very good , about an hour of chat and an hour of race , so was pleasantly surprised ; only real problem was not hearing the result before watching because the iPlayer didn't start until after the transmission of the highlights on TV
and for anyone who will be in spain when there is a race , have no fear ! the live free transmission had adverts , but they never once were put in at an important moment , lots during the safety car period though ...really excellent presentation within their business model I felt
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be
