From the BBC.

"BBC F1 technical analyst Gary Anderson said: "McLaren are pretty confident in their updates - they have decided to just believe in the wind tunnel.

"There are some ducts on the car and they're doing something with the DRS definitely, to make it work differently, but I'm not sure how yet." "

Anyone spotted theses ducts on the Macca yet?
"I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it".

I think he is probably referring to lotus with the second statement : "There are some ducts on the car and they're doing something with the DRS definitely, to make it work differently, but I'm not sure how yet." "

That's what I think.

The lads on sky reckon more speed will be found with the mechanical updates than the aero, any thoughts on that guys?

I believe the guys on sky do nothing more than make the water murky.

I come to this thread to look at photos and expert analysis, and autosport... i can see the HUGE difference in the car, looks very different, i would really like to hear what button and ham have to say about the car.

Does anyone have any rear aspect shots of the macca?

Only from an awful angle which means they are very dark and impossible to see. Maybe when the FP2 images are uploaded.

Interesting they reduced the undercut at the front and increased at the back of the sidepod. Perhaps air traveling under the front undercut was not that effective at keep airflow attached to the bodywork to travel around the sidepod to the back?

Well, there's not really as much of a benefit to undercut at the front, you'd always trade it for more at the rear so long as you can get the packaging working.

Bit big to embed but this image shows a lot of scorch marks. Lets hope it holds together for the race.

Good photo... looks like a lot of heat is coming out of the shark gill area. I wonder what is venting from right there, or on the off chance the flow of the exhaust towards that area is now quite attached due to the redesigned sidepods. Looking at it closely, it doesn't seem like it would be the exhaust because you can see on the floor where the exhaust flow seems to be going.

It's not the exhaust, just lots of heat from engine and mainly the tightly packaged exhaust manifold. How long till they make it one big hole and go full Ferrari on this exhaust.

I'm thinking the same, that looks a bit too hot.
