more evidence, they cannot optimise their performance on a hot track.
They're going to suffer at some of the upcoming tracks

Their first stint was bad -_-. They could've challenged for the race win/podium, both drivers had the pace.

The race didn't finish as bad as I thought. Considering their 2 stop strategy, it was good, actually. Now let's see what are the big updates for Singapore.

Dude, only their first stint was bad. The rest was excellent.

Exactly, some people need to sit back and read the entire race.

hot weather high fuel load = high tyre wear

This is NOT the problem, they couldn't get the tyres to work in the first stint. This is what cost them. If they had better pace in first stint, they would've fought with Perez/Alonso/Massa.

I doubt very much weather these people have the capacity to sit down and concentrate for that long. In fact, it amuses me that they can still post.
If Mercedes where bad today, what about Red Bull?

It's still not great by Mercedes, but this is a positive result for the team. I'm sceptical about these Singapore updates, but we cannot say what will happen for sure. Had they one stopped today, we would have seen them finish 8th and 9th possibly even further back, as a direct result of the cars tendency to chew rubber. And as Raptor has said, track temps where 41-43 degrees, much higher than the norm, and the highest this weekend.
If this continues after the updates, Mercedes will finish behind Sauber in the WCC.

This was in fact the problem. If the car dis not heat its tyres as much, they could have adjusted it to make them last longer without sacrificing pace. They can't hence the 2 stop strategy. The car was also not so good in qualifying on a track that should have seen them competing for pole.

We're still waiting on the explanation for the poor first stint; don't jump to conclusions. Schumacher was seen weaving on the pit straight throughout the 1st stint - why would he do that? Lack of temperature/tyre pressure, if so his tyres were probably graining.

Guys you cannot say that it was a good race. This is the track that would suit the Merc and MS falls back 2 positions and Rosberg 1, even though both Button and Vettel retired. Without thoose retirements he MS would have lost 4 positions on a track which suits the Merc.

To me they didn´t have race pace, they did a 2-stopper so surely they should be able to bang in some quick times in the end whan fule load is low and everybode else is on worn tires.

They are going to be totally appauling last races. Will be intresting to see what they will bring for updates, i´m expecting them to bring some DDRS crap which will do nothing. Eric Bouillier said in pre race interview that the DDRS thing is very hard to tune so they are not putting massive resources to finish that one.

I disagree. Competing for pole? Mercedes could have bagged the pole and would have finished outside the points.
The whole problem surrounding the W03 is sacrificing it's outright pace for lengthier tyre life. We have seen Aero appendages which give them this pace removed so as to achieve the optimum balance between speed and tyre wear.
The W03 has the same lump in the back as the Force India and McLaren, McLaren do not have the same issues as Mercedes in relation to tyre wear, and therefore do not need to compromise as much as much as Merc do.
We can safely ascertain that even before a wheel turned at Monza that McLaren where favourites for this race and pole by a long chalk.
Anything of Mercedes getting pole was PR gumf as is the norm in F1 these days.

MSC could have been trying to keep heat in the tyres with some lateral movement ie weaving, so as to keep the tyres in operating temps. I'm not sure exactly what sort of tyre problems they are experiencing but it must be wear and not heat related. Odd. I read the cars where overheating it's tyres......

I think this race was a quantum-leap for MGP, imagine losing only 0.5s per lap to a Sauber on a power-track like Monza?
