Nice pics, 747. The Alfa's frame is gorgeous.

Really hard to find good photos of the Calibra! Someone out there needs to take one apart and do a photo session, and feature that awesome drivetrain.

I found some model photos that illustrate the engine positioning benefits it gave, as 747 pointed out, compared to the Alfa. You can see the driveshaft locations here:

My first Post on here!

I love the tech of this era of DTM cars - Awesome.

Gobsmacked though at how far forward the Alfas lump was! Christ, like a bloody Quattro!

Waht was with the V8 - was this the / an Engine that did not quite make it out before the series imploded at the end of 96 (sound right).

Very interesting. I assumed DTM cars of this era were all rear wheel drive. Looking at these photos, am I write in understanding they had the same drive wheels as the production car on which they were based?

As there seems to be a bit of interest about the FIA class 1 cars and there technology, I will get the mods to change the thread title, so that people can continue posting photos of all the different cars here, and discuss them.

Here some more photos of the Opel Calibra.
The semi-automatic gearbox used in the Calibra was developed in coopeation with the Williams F1 team, using parts of their F1 gearbox/gear change system.

Does anybody know if there are any books around which are about the technical aspects of the old DTM/ITC cars?
