Can I just say how impressive Grosjean has been with hand he was delt. His quiet determination has been inspiring—where Vettel's whining and complaining has been utterly disappointing.

Just to mix things up, because one driver is always going to be a step behind if they take the same, the lead car will always get priority with the first stops if they are running close together and I doubt we're going to see a challenge from behind?
The race is 3 stop at least, possibly 4. I expect MMMH as the optimal, but they may be pushed into MMHH if they're struggling, or even MMMHH.

Point being that in Bahrain they made strats for whoever was leading and whoever was 2nd, not specific strats for Lewis and Nico. Seems the best way to go as no other teams can challenge them and they have no idea who will lead after the 1st turn.
- That's very questionable Bahrain race logic. They shouldn't mix it just because but for optimum performance.
- If you can overtake in Barcelona it's easier to do that in the first 5 laps, why split strategies immediately and abandon that? Same for tyres performance before pitstops.
- Can they even do two stops? 20+ laps and 1-1,2 between compounds, I'd say 3 routine stops, then it's bubble racing and taking care of tyres. In the golden age of 2010 one stop was enough :wink:

I think Mercedes might do one stop less than everyone else considering their pace and apparent tyre wear advantage. Lewis' run in FP2 was almost 2 seconds a lap faster than everyone else.

How many laps is the race? Just because in fp2 Lewis did 12+ laps at 1:30.--- and 1:31.--- on the medium tyre.

I guess it will be 3 stops, maybe 3 stints on the mediums at around 15 laps then a final stint of around 20 on hards.

From the drivers that took part in Q3, how many have saved one fresh set of options? I know Button and the Mercedes have, and I think the Red Bulls have as well.

I'd bet on this being the optimal strategy:
M -> lap 12 -> M -> lap 26 -> M -> lap 40 -> H -> lap 66

I expect some teams may need to do this instead:
M -> lap 10 -> M -> lap 22 -> H -> lap 44 -> H -> lap 66

Well it would be interesting to see what Maldonado would have done, but to finish (qualify) first, first you have to finish (qualify)

EDIT: The forecast for tomorrow is cloud with lower temperatures, maybe we will see something better from the McLarens?

yeah, very stupid mistake by him today (sometimes it looks that he can't handle these complicated turbo power cars).
He was fast in the FP's and screws it up at the worst moment... on his (second) favorite track.
With a bit of luck and no further crash it can be a points finish for him tomorrow maybe.
