That in itself will get him in trouble, he got slapped pretty hard for lying to the stewards while at McLaren, I doubt he would do that again.

They have been in with the stewards for a long time now, I think there's a chance both might come out of this with penalties.

He did but rosbergs car was slowing down abnormally so it should be a legal pass.
Which is right, as did Max and Kimi on Nico. But Kimi didn't attempted a pass on Max as it was yellow flag.

Considering Lewis has been getting pretty controversial and harsh reprimands this year, Nico survivng unscathed from two blatant, undeniable instances probably wont go down well.

I didn't want to suggest lying. Perhaps more of having a slightly less damaging opinion.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

I wouldn't read much in to that, it was too close to fairly say Lewis made a pass under yellows. Red Bull were bleating on the radio as they normally do, any opportunity to have a good bleat and get other teams penalised and Red Bull take it.

Im sorry. Thats rubbish. Lewis should have stayed on the one stop. Mercedes screwed up by not pitting him a little earlier. See verstappen's strategy as proof that the one stop was more than enough to win. Just add whatever gap lewis had to max, to max's time and u will see.
I agree Mercedes made the wrong calls, but pitting Lewis a second time lost them nothing regarding potential points, they were still going to get a one two finish, but with Vettels blow out and the the aggressive kerbs a second stop was a calculated conservative gamble and I do not believe they would deliberately sabotage one of their drivers in favour of the other.

As i said, Hamiltons tires were 11 laps fresher than Rosbergs! There's an element of certainty that Hamilton would have come at least 6 laps short of finishing on those tires. On a light car. Assuming Rosberg behind due to the pitstop, he could have concerved to the end.

If all can draw such a damning conclusion i am no longer arguing why Nico is wrong, i am now wondering if he deserves grid penalties or a race ban for such dirty driving. I haven't seen such dastardly driving since shumacher.

For those of you who are supporting nico on this, you have no grounds and don't understand how proper overtaking is done. Nico simply doesn't know how to defend legally, we have seen too many examples with this guy defending and crashing.
You only screen a driver before the braking zone, or on exiting the turn.
You don't push or punt out a car on the outside in the braking zone or in the middle of the turn on the apex.
It's these simple steps Nico fails to understand.
Hamilton in USA and Canada was a steady out sweep, in plain vision by both drivers and before or after the apex of the turn. No drama there and no intention to cause a collision.
Nico wanted to collide in this instance.
Exactly! On CNBC, Steve Matchett said that he could see Rosberg deliberately crashing into Lewis and take both of them out of the race to maintain his championship lead. At first I thought that was highly unlikely, but what do you know, he attempts it and comes off worse. I'm not buying that BBW BS either. If Rosberg knew his brakes were failing why did he brake so late? Rosberg's driving was disgusting and very similar to the Schumacher-Villeneuve Jerez 1997 collision. Whoever is defending Rosberg obviously doesn't know the difference between hard racing and trying to cause a collision intentionally.

If both Lewis' stops had been as quick as Nico's were, he'd have come out into the lead with some time to spare after the second stop.

I don't think the strategy change in of itself was a hindrance, but added together with the two slow stops, they cost him time.

Now, he again breached the driving rules and drove into his team mate, almost certainly making them return empty handed again. What does Mercedes want to do now? Did they hurried in re-signing Nico again?
Pascal Wehrlein - a Mercedes driver - had an excellent race today and should be rubbing his hands together. While Merc bosses may publicly defend Rosberg, his record of poor decision making in high stress situations must surely weaken his career prospects. I doubt even Williams would take him back if he got dumped at the end of the season.

- Congrats to Pascal Wehrlein for his first point in his F1 career!

- What a pity that Hülkenberg couldn't show the same performance from qualifying and that Perez dropped out in the last lap. Hülkenberg said in an interview that he was sliding the whole time.

- Congrats to Max Verstappen on his second podium!

- Button finishing 6th, very nice!

- As much as I was rooting for Rosberg I think he was clearly at fault here.

He lost more than 3 seconds compared to Rosberg, but Rosberg lost over 5 seconds behind the safetycar.

Were not even talking about the fact that Lewis was essentially slowed on his second stint by Merc putting Rosberg in front of him. They literally told him to not bother attacking and he maintained a 2s gap to Nico at all times.

He probably lost a heap of time through that entire second stint alone.

The point is moot, given how much Hamilton lost by staying out 11 laps longer because of differing strategies.
