Cooling is vital this weekend. The turbo has to work very hard to compensate for the thinner air. That also pushes the MGU-H. Cooling the gearbox and brakes will also be extremely important.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑26 Oct 2017, 22:29New cooling gills on the shoulder of the head surround. Presumably helping to cool the intercooler in the thinner air.
It isn't new though. I remember seeing it during Winter testing.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑26 Oct 2017, 22:29New cooling gills on the shoulder of the head surround. Presumably helping to cool the intercooler in the thinner air.

Possibly for a "no oil" sign for the gearbox. The bodywork gets put on for scrutineering but before the cars are track ready.ScrewCaptain27 wrote: ↑27 Oct 2017, 12:39Anybody know what these metal chains are for?

Surely mechanics with three arms are illegal.
Hard to tell at this resolution but it looks like the small winglets on the FW have a finer CF weave pattern (for lack of a better term). Also, this car is a work of art. It belongs in a museum.
Thought these slots were new, but I think this entire variant was run during testing.
