Force India VJM11

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I’m calling rubbish on “this isn’t the VJM11”, the sidepods on this car are considerably refined in shape from the VJM10 which would be the last possible thing you could change on an interim test-mule.

Still think it's rubbish?
Still rubbish.

The 2018 car hit the track on day 1, there was no “remodded 2017 car” and “2018 challenger waiting to emerge”.

The new article you posted is Andy Green putting a positive spin on being behind on their chassis build.

Flash me your Force India F1 badge and I'll consider your rubbish opinion as the gold standard, but for the time being I'll go with the Technical Director and COO's statements.

"This is an interim shirt, and we'll get the real ones for the first race -- a little bit like the car!" team COO Otmar Szafnauer said about the lack of branding on the kit this week.

Force India still to reveal new name and 2018 car

As per this, Full car will come on Wednesday or Thursday. Not sure how much correct their information is.
Brilliant move once again! They make money off the first 2 days of testing, giving the remodded 2017 car and if they happen to be in a crash, not an issue because the 2018 beast is still sitting tight in the garage! =D> SFi is surely playing it's cards close to the chest.
Let's go back to this post.

There is no 2018 car sitting in the garage because it's already running on track and has been since day 1 of testing.

That this is not the 2017 car is beyond dispute, both tub and cooling layout (sidepods) have changed from the VJM10.

The car will evolve from launch like every other car, new wings and aero pieces will appear when they are ready. No one would say for example that McLaren has yet to release their "real" 2018 car just because they have stated their intention to bring a big upgrade package to Australia.

Is it just me or the rear wing endplate doesn't connect to floor?

I guess it connects. Not the best photo, but gives you an idea

Those sidepods are very fat compared to rest of field,i hope they have planned better cooling package for latter half of season.

Looking at ‘No of Laps (second to lowest) & Timing (which is not that critical at this stage but still…);
is FI struggling with this package?

No it's just testing.
