McLaren MCL33

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter does not belong here.

With rumours of a new nose that's unlike anything seen before, where would be the right place to discuss ideas of what it could be?

I have none, but some people here must...

It's hard to think how it could be different to anything we've seen so far. Perhaps a long vertical slot up through the middle of the nose? We know it went through rigorous crash testing, so it must be pushing boundaries.

Don't expect it to be as radical as the press hype, same with the 'b-spec car' romours, it's not, it's just a lot of parts.

Can't remember where, but I recall it being said a few different times over the first 3 races. Couldn't say if it was factual or not.

Yeah, it was mentioned that if failed the crashed tests and was not ready to be introduced yet, that was back in China I think. So, someone could read into it that the new nose is radically different thus they are struggling to make it pass the crash test.

Do we think McLaren are back tracking with this upgrade....? Or just playing it down as the car hasn’t lived up to expectations so far. I wonder how much of this upgrade will follow Red Bull, maybe a similar nose with a hole in it and new front wing layout. We’ll find out shortly.
