Vandoorne was really waving when he came over the finish in 14th? :/

I disagree. It is so far the most reliable from all the teams.

No more excuses. Less cockiness and more modesty and hard work. The three heads should go Boullier, Brown and Neale.

ALO had very good pace when he was in clean air for a short time. Sadly, the gearbox just had to last like 65 or so KMs.

Mclaren has a terrible car.
Alonso did a 17.0x with softs tires and almost 3/5ths of tank of fuel when he was in clean air. They had really good race pace in clean air.

I don't think you can look at anybodies raw pace except for Max ...he did a 1:14 in a couple of laps.

Especially Alonso ...he knows what it takes and he'll put-in the times he needs, no more.

McLaren was faster Renault.

I would say McLaren was faster than any other midfield team by a significant margin. I feel like ALO missed the boat a bit, he pushed a bit later than he should have before Ocon's pitstop and then came out within a second of him. I mean it is what it is because it would have been useless anyway.

In any case the car doesn't seem to be yet clear of the midfield. I hope that comes in Canada with the new engine and yet another upgrade.

Think GoranF1 is a little frustrated with ALO's retirement.

Ricardo Had gearbox problems as well.

Yeah, I noticed that...not sure if it took a couple of laps to get the softs up to temperature...

I also think that Alonso's strategy wasn't ideal. Should had a longer stint with Hypers but ok who cares now since he retired. In the 1st radio I think he told he had less power but then gearbox, had a lot of smoke in the back though. As for the pace it was pretty much ok, at 1st stint Alo was pulling away from Sainz but the gap with Ocon was opening but on the 2nd stint with SS ALO was able to catch Ocon. By the way, in the latter stages I think it was visible that he was losing pace till the retirement.

Thanking them for what? The horrible strategy they gave him? Weird moment imo.
