McLaren MCL34

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Flo-viz test

No signs of detatchment on FW end-plate. Also note flo-viz pattern of foot-plate showing the formation of a vortex

Positive pattern on the undercut as well

Thank you for the pics and short explanation. But being the novice I am, I'm wondering on the front wing, the two upper elements barely have any flow-viz. It should be just that they didn't paint it right?
You're welcome. I think there's no flo-viz on top of the wing. Seems like they were only testing the underside of the FW in yesterday's aero program. Maybe we'll see more elaborate tests later.

I'm still wondering about the little shark fin extension for the driver's number. Did they not go to the full extent allowed by the regulations, or is there that allowed them to go beyond the permitted lenght just for that little area?
What would be the benefit of having a shorter shark fin than what is allowed?
There might be plans to introduce a full sized sharkfin later but for now the focus is probably on aero correlation of current parts.

Hilarious isn't it.. the FIA ban flaps outside the wheel face, so they recess the "brake duct" into the wheel and put flaps there.

How are they conditioning the air though being directed downwards?
