I also believe we concluded that the problem here (if there is one) is that, at least in spanish, the word for "pump" is "bomba" and it's simply a bad translation. I know I've made the same mistake when I did not speak english as
extraordinarily well as I do know...
I'm not sure about that theory, because I'm not sure which is the
french word for pump. If, in french, you say "bombe de huile" for "oil pump", that explains all: the mis-translation
and Alonso understanding it.
Oh, and yes, there is a kind of dry-sump, racing oil-system (the one I know is called Accu-sump) that keeps a reserve of oil under pressure, to be used when you load the engine more, in case you think you're going to have oil starvation, to protect the engine. I imagine they use some version of it.
All dry sump systems I know have several tanks that are used "in cascade". All the systems work by keeping the engine as dry as possible, which means you have to regulate somehow the total amount of oil in the system. At higher rpms there is a little extra oil in the system, just in case. I think there is a nice explanation about dry sumps in the technical section of this forum, courtesy of Mr. De Groote (aka Tomba).
Anyway, if some latino asks where the "gasoline bomb" is, don't call National Security: just tell him where he can find the "gas pump".
