I Cant say I'm surprised, Gasly underperformed massively.

My bigger question is what happens to the second Toro Rosso seat now, and to Gasly? Does Gasly go back like Kvyat did in 2016? Or does that seat go to another RB Junior?

With Albon promoted to RB and him having a good chance on that 2020 seat, RB won't sign HULK or Bottas for 2020 probably. Hülkenberg could be the big looser of this swap. If Ocon takes Bottas' seat, Bottas would be a solid choice for Renault, same if Bottas remains Hamilton's teammate, Ocon would be in pole position to take Hulk's seat. Which is a shame, because I think Hülkenberg is a decent driver.

I'm curious how Gasly will perform in the TR now that he's been demoted. Kvyat will be a better measuring stick than Hartley.

they give ALB 9 races to prove himself.... if he fails he is out and the option from outside (Hulkenberg, Bottas) can be taken.
if ALB proves himself to be good enough, they have the perfect line up for 2020 with VER aiming for WDC and with ALB as the perfect "wingman" RB aimes for WCC

It is a bit of a risky game. With two seats available for 2020, one “at least I’m still in F1” at Williams and one “the pay is good” at HAAS, Red Bull might get caught out if Albon’s progress isn’t as fast as they expect.

Good for Albon. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do but I also am hoping he doesn't crash and burn like Gasly.

Hopefully we get to see Gasly get back on form.

This should affect Mercedes's driver's choice I think for 2020. I'm hoping they keep Bottas. Ocon hadn't done anything that makes him worthy of the seat. Mercedes is better of hiring Sergio Perez than Ocon honestly.

You would agree that, Senna would have never gone to Ferrari. He left McLaren for the fact that, McLaren couldn't give him fastest car in 1992 and 1993 (just 2 years!), despite having won 3 championships in that team. Prost and Mansell had resigned from Ferrari as they couldn't do much there. Senna wouldn't have gone there for sure. So Michael was the only option that Ferrari would have left with on that grid! Ferrari would have definitely tried him even if Senna was alive. So, Michael would have certainly driven those 2000s cars.

Even if Michael wouldn't have gone to Ferrari, he would have won another championship with Benetton in 1996. I am not saying this, Brawn himself had admitted that, when Michael left Benetton in 1996, the car was still good for another championship in Michael's hands as Brawn was still in-charge at Benetton in 1996. Would he have beaten Senna in 1996 while driving that Benetton, when that year's Williams was a genuine championship winner? Nobody knows, 36 Years old Senna Vs 26 Years old Michael.
Well a 36yrs old in that Williams scored more than DOUBLE the points of any Benetton driver that year,

So if Senna and Schumacher were in those 2 cars, Its very clear Senna would have come out on top.

Albon has been promoted to Red Bull Racing https://twitter.com/redbullracing/statu ... 56224?s=21
- Ants in the jar. At least all the quality remains in Red Bull family.

- As for Albon - he was slower in the races than Kvyat. Let that sink in. Newly discovered (pole!) genius of Verstappen is not in any danger [-o< .

- BTW all those journos firing Bottas were defending Gasly and praising his "improvements", especially his FP1 best time and outqualifyting and beating no one.

Albon far better choice PR wise than Kvyat; and they must believe he can get more out of the car than Gasly for the teams sake.

Gasly would have never got any better i believe...even if he stayed til the end! Don't know if that has to do with the car of his psychology but he was way too slow for this car! Hopefully Albon is a better deal but i don't see him being fast straight out of the box!
Question remains though...why not Kyvat? Same question with Sainz in 2016! Way more experienced than Albon and had more points than Albon! I mean yeah he screwed up a bit in 2016 but it wasn't that bad...i believe it had more to do with RB wanting to give Verstappen a seat at RB rather than Kyvat screwing up so much that he must get demoted...Gasly screwed up way more than Kyvat in 2016...but yeah there is no Verstappen for promotion right now!
Let's see...i am excited when these things happen in the middle of the season!!
