McLaren MCL34

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Problem on Sainz's engine at the start of #BelgiumGP was related to air intake butterflies [valves]. Engine should be ok. It was a spec2

Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Wonder if they’ll try out more simplistic endplates

I’m keen to see the Alfa, how low they’ll go. So far, Haas seem to have gone equally low as McLaren.

Also interesting to note is the fact that this was the second front-end solution the team tried this season with no success.
How do you know there was no success? Both ideas could have simply been for data collection so the team know where to move forward with future development. These revised uprights are clearly test items and not meant to be raced.

What are the chances that this is still a prototype and eventually it will be a carbon fiber piece of the whole brake/wheel assemply and used next year ?

Much like the solution Sport Pesa introduced earlier this year, down to the little fairings, just a litle bigger.
the four immutable forces:
static balance
dynamic balance
static imbalance
dynamic imbalance
