2020 car comparison thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The diffusers are the same height so the rake of each, at that point, gave the same result.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Gotta say that Mercedes in that shot does not look like a lot less rake. I mean the car is longer than the others that makes it look a little less, but Diffusor height looks rather similar.

Yes the difference is pretty small, something like 1.4 degrees versus 1.9. Hopefully AMUS will publish the rakes and wheelbases.

Mercedes is more tightly packaged, has cleaner airflow because the RB16 has the suspension arm in the middle of the airflow, has more detailed endplates and runs both the endplates and diffuser bodywork closer to the tyre than RB. Also the RB cooling exit is bigger and the rear bodywork is not so much sloped downwards at the diffuser as the Mercedes.

Those are areas where Mercedes looks better.
True GOATs don’t need the help of superior material to win.

Tom Brady, Usain Bolt are true GOATs.

These are the averages of the race sim 2nd Stint C2 times from @f1debrief. He doesn't label George's a race sim but it looks like it. It could be a first stint, would help! Romain's is a shorter stint than the others.

Russell (C2) 24.46
Daniil Kvyat #AT01 23.35
Sergio Perez #RP20 23.12
Carlos Sainz #MCL35 23.10
Romain Grosjean #VF20 22.42
Charles Leclerc #SF1000 21.88

So it looks like Williams are still a bit of a way off the others :( , and Ferrari are over 1s clear of the midfield including McLaren. I don't see these stints for the others, so far

Red Bull has a lot less rear wing.
