It is not incorrect, there will always be a drag vector when you have any sort of AoA.
And if that drag vector points rearwards, the car has to overcome it, if they are pointing to the side they are canceled out.

Again it doesn't matter which direction the drag is going, drag is drag. To get the drag to "go out the sides" the air has to be turned upstream causing more drag. At the end of the day you want to slow the air going over the car and speed it up underneath.

Lateral airflow, aka outwash is still redirecting air and thus increasing air pressure, vs the underside of the floor.

It’s hard to believe it’s September next week. Usually this weekend would be the return from the summer break and a time when most teams attention would be switching to next year, yet it feels like the season has only just begun

I guess the 2021 development programs at all teams are fully underway anyway especially with the homologation rules coming in

Makes me wonder how much more development we will see for the remainder or the year but then I guess with chassis carried over to next year the usual development path will be re-written in favour of continuing the development of the 35 until the last race and simply picking up in March where they left off in December

Somewhere along the line the 35 could simply morph into the 36 (With a shiny new engine of course :D )
