A new rear suspension makes a lot of sense, especially considering Aston Martin get there’s hand delivered token free from Mercedes and it was one of the best ones of last year.

Anybody know what is the difference between Brivio CEO role and the MD role?

Normally a CEO is more a strategic position and less busy with day to day operations while a MD runs the operation under the control of the CEO. In this case, Cyril reports to Brivo who reports to Prost (and other board members)

Not anymore

Cyril left Renault group or was forced out.

I saw it! Renault shakes things up... Rossi new CEO, so I Guess Brivo will lead the racing team and Budkowski as managing director? Or.. other way round in some way 😂

PRESS RELEASE
Boulogne-Billancourt, January 11, 2021 – Groupe Renault announces the appointment of Laurent Rossi, Director of Strategy and Business Development of Groupe Renault, as Chief Executive Officer of the Alpine brand, effective January 11, 2021. Laurent Rossi will take charge of Alpine Cars, Sport, F1 and competition activities. He will report to Luca de Meo, Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Renault.

Cyril Abiteboul is leaving Groupe Renault:

I would like to thank the Groupe Renault for having trusted me for many years, particularly with the relaunch and reconstruction of the team since 2016. The solid foundations of the racing team and the entities in France and England built over these years, the strategic evolution of the sport towards a more economically sustainable model, and more recently the Alpine project which provides a renewed sense of meaning and dynamism, all point to a very fine trajectory. I would like to thank Luca de Meo for involving me in the construction of the Alpine Business Unit and I wish the new structure every success.

Looks very much like Brivio has been bought in to replace Abiteboul as team prinipal.

I suspect that beng beaten by your own customer team in Mclaren two years running whist probably having a bigger budget will have cost Abiteboul, that and what looks like internal politics and a management shake up higher up in the Renault Group.

Joe Saward on Rossi...

Rossi began his career with Renault in 2000 as a development engineer, after completing a Masters in mechanical engineering. In 2009 he left the firm after finishing an MBA course at Harvard and joined the Boston Consulting Group in New York, as the firm’s automotive industry expert. In 2012 he moved to Google to develop commercial relations with automotive industry companies, firstly in Paris for the Europe region, then in New York for the Americas region and then globally. He returned to Renault in 2018 and was named Vice-President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development in 2019. He is a member of Groupe Renault Management Committee.

Jérôme Stoll already stepped down last month as the president of Renault Sport.
No mention in any press outing about the board of Renault Sport, where Alain Prost is a member of. According to the press release Rossi will report directly to De Meo.

Looks like they broke their F1 activities off from Renault Sport, giving Enstone their whole own team. No word who is leading Renault Sport now.

Abiteboul announced his hiring. So must have been part of the interview process. The News all along has been that Abiteboul would be CEO of Alpine. So a Team principle hiring was expected. So IMHO you assertion is wrong. It was a given there would be a new TP for 2021. The question is Abiteboul being kicked or is he is leaving for another job.

The replacement of Abiteboul being from Inside the Renault group(Rossi)... You can read into that what you like. Either Rossi was hired in 2018 to be CEO of Alpine, he was hired as a replacement in the eventuallity of Abiteboul leaving or he was a last minuite choice to save face and fill in. His resume does look very CEO like.

hmmmmm...Rossi is former director of strategy and business development at Renault. If he wanted to plan it, he was the guy to do it.

De Meo is on the job only since July. Looks like he's cleaning house. Renault Sport lost several customers over the last few seasons, just three podiums with their own car and a lot of money invested in drivers, without additional income. So, he distanced the team away from Renault, put a business developer on it, hired a guy that knows how to turn around the talent in a racing team.

Reminds me of the situation in McLaren between Martin Whitmarsh & Eric Boullier

If memory serves, Martin hired Eric to run the F1 team only to then be let go himself
