Alpine A521

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

They've been prototyping and testing a lot more parts than in the past, that's impressive.
I do believe its because this car that we're seeing rn, was supposed to come in bahrain, but because of technical problems in the wind tunnel during winter a lot of the development got stopped. So, now with the wind tunnel fixed basically they're catching up their winter now.

I think after barcelona we wont see as many new bits on the Alpine.

Theory number 287 invalidated. The intake plenum is still the same design

Pretty cool, upgrades you can make with a saw and glue!
I’m pretty new to this as you can tell but I still think it’s great they can prototype rapidly like that without going full carbon immediately.

That was a bit tongue and cheek but pretty sure they can do that. I'm not expert.

No worries, it’s just that compared to 2019 Renault they are really trying things instead of waiting for a disappointing package.

Looks like they're using the shorter strake and outer diffuser section to feed the rear of the tire, raise the pressure behind the tire to lessen the pressure difference between front and rear.

Alonso wans his steering servo to be changed. Can this be done mid season?

Yes, he said some changes for him specifically are coming in two or three races.
I presume the steering adjustment is one of those.

Fernando Alonso will get a tweaked power steering system for Monaco and beyond, as the two-time champion continues his re-adaptation to Formula 1.

I can’t find the link. But earlier I saw a video of the Alpine rear wing flexing as much, if not more than the Redbull. This may be where the turn of speed has come from.
