I wouldn’t be surprised if Lewis is at P4 end of lap 1. If the others give him any room he will pounce on it. Have seen him done it before. I actually do believe he is very good in traffic.

I understand the move for cost saving etc, but surely there should be some system to allow teams to dismantle and examine potentially damaged gearboxes etc under supervision from FIA delegates or something.

If you have to replace it, fine you take a penalty, but it would potentially avoid what happens today.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is where the Sunday moring warm up which they abolished years ago would have been handy for Leclerc.

LeClerc does not start indeed! Confirmed by Ferrari over the boardradio to the FIA.

How long does a 'box change take?

I'm gutted for the sake of watching a fun race. But a part of me thinks this is karma for in my opinion crashing on purpose in qaulifying.

Max's race to lose now. Max should leave this race in the lead of the title standings.

Teams design the best car they can, balanced, with as much grip and the least drag for a given downforce, in a scientific manner and without a driver in mind. The race team will setup the given car together with the driver to maximise that package for the circuit.
That's not completely true, the engineers have to take some things into account, just like aircraft designers used to have to do.

before fly by wire and computers started making thousands of tiny changes a second, aircraft designers had to design a plane that was stable enough to be flown by a pilot alone without help from a computer.

If engineers would truly design the fastest car possible it'd be very aerodynamically unstable, and the power delivery would be so harsh that the drivers would constantly be spinning up the tires.

Left hand DRIVE SHAFT?!?! why didn't they just change that as standard? can't they change damaged parts providing its not gearbox or PU.

Still 5 different teams in the top 5. Really this race could be won or lost in the pit-stops. Would be truly poetic if Carlos ends up winning this by some crazy sequence of events. Unlucky Leclerc.

Nah. If he'd crashed on purpose he'd have made sure to go in nose first to avoid damage to the gearbox.

I'm not counting Hamilton out, but personally, hoping Bottas and Max collide and either Sainz or Norris go on to win!! 😝
