Ferrari F14T

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Alonso looked much more comfortable with F14T than Kimi.

Yeah, i think kimi was a bit over cautious

i think that the car doesn't suit his driving style, so maybe he'll have to adjust

Seems that sectors 2 & 3 is where all the time is lost - so is that lack of traction out of slow corners ?

To me it looks like Alonso is making more steering wheel corrections than Raikkonen..

Kimi struggles under breaking, but looks stable on the exit
While Alonso looks stable on the braking and unstable on the exit

We should keep on topic about the car. Wouldn't like this to become like Autosport forums cars threads... There are separate sections to talk about testing and driving styles.

Kimi complained about steering on last years Lotus. I wonder if he likes a very specific kind of feel from the rack?

The side by side video is very revealing IMO.

In my view Fred seems to be sharpening the beginning and end of his corners and then hammering the throttle ASAP this year, whereby last year it seems there was a more fluid / "corner lengthening" approach after the corner. Maybe I'm not deciphering the video correctly, and my observation is not accurate, but that is my take. Happy to be corrected if others see something different in the behavior characteristics of this years car.

This year really will test the will of each driver in having to harness their skill to what the fuel demands are to finish rather than balls to the wall pedal to the floor approach to the race. That should greatly excite most in this forum. (Lol, yes that's a joke)

It will be especially interesting to see how more intellectually driven "conservative" / smooth drivers respond vs more instinctually driven / tenacious "liberal" drivers respond. (Not anything political intended--the words just seemed to fit the thought).

Interesting, and i thought it would be redundant, as you would need another radiator for the water to be cooled anyway.
Not to mention a water pump.
The question is, where is it placed, over the fuel tank?
And where is the related water radiator, and how does this extra heat exchanger impact space for other coolers.
For Sure!!

I get what you mean. He doesn't ease the steering wheel into the corner either. One quick big turn of the wheel at entry, slowly release to straighten the car and then jam the throttle peddle.
