Renault R30

Very intricate brake duct/interior wheel fairing. And I just noticed how spindly the front suspension looks without aero moldings, à la Ferrari.

:) That's no evidence. You can glue and fill a lot. A new lacquer coat and...new it looks. But who should do such a costly thing and for what reasons?

So a fuel tank more than twice the size has snuck into that car, yet the wheel base has only faintly changed.. i would suggest they've done more successful work than the huge wheel-based examples from Ferrari & McLaren!
Don't forget that the McLaren and Ferrari were the shortest cars last year. I can't remember where the Renault fit in, but the new MP4-25 and F10 are about the same length as last years Red Bull. So not that long really, in the scheme of things.

Edit: The other thing to remember is that in McLaren's case at least it was a conscious decision so as to help maximise the diffuser - longer car means more area under the car which ultimately means more downforce. Their car also will have a smaller frontal area due to being more narrow, which I would guess would ultimately lead to less drag for their level of down force. This in turn will help with fuel economy as well as overall performance.

I'd imagine that Ferrari were persuing similar goals, but have read less from their engineers discussing this.

I can´t help it... but I think the R30 is the best looking 2010 car so far. I like the livery, I like the car´s shape and I think that it "looks" fast.

A very Mclaren front wing, and a very curvy rear one!

is this the famous "W-wing" that was the talk of the mid 2009 that Renault was testing in wind tunnel? I don't remember exactly the details to provide here...

there was some talk that someone has seen it in the wind tunnel and it gains a lot compared to conventional wings and etc.

damn my memory, can't remember exactly #-o

Actually I remember the W wing rumors were born on the Renault fansite in early 2007!

After the 2008 car still didn't have anything like that I decided it was an unfounded legend lol.

If that's the said concept, it certainly took them a lot of time to dial it correctly...

And indeed the front wing is very Mac Larenish.

bang on target!!

you are handy, thnx.

I guess there were some problems with Renault or some controversies running on and so this W-wing idea was not introduced that year. now they have gained advantage on that idea for this year, it seems
