Pole sitter Lando Norris has taken the victory at this year's Monaco Grand Prix. Although Leclerc and Piastri finished closely behind the race, including two stops was perfectly under Norris' control from start to finish, leading to his first win at the principality.
Pleasantries first - congrats Lando, that was a weekend when you answered your critics. In style. Well deserved.
I mean, he barely got pole and the win in very clearly the fastest car on the grid. He deserved the win, but I dont know that I'd consider it a terribly impressive performance overall.
Yup. He’s got the fastest car last & current season. Everyone expected him to be the lead driver, instead Piastri is making him look ordinary driver. What Norris need is deliver consistent pole & wins + when you don’t have the best car of the weekend, that’s where your skill comes in to unlock that extra performance. Which he is currently behind .
Monaco should be time attack ( qualifying with points awarded).
Saturday time attack for maximum of 12.5 points, with Q1, Q2, Q3, but 1.5hrs for the session instead of 1 hour.
and Sunday another round of the same knock out time attach for the remaining 12.5 points, another 1.5 hours.
The man with the most points over the weekend gets the big trophy.
And that's the end of the Monaco weekend.
This would be worth at least a test. There could even be some sort of "handycap" applied to level the field.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.
best race ever, hope they'll mandate 3 stops next year
They should just keep doubling the number of stops every year until it completely breaks the race, then back it off by one stop, and they'll know they've achieved maximum chaos.

Or! After every stop you have to reenter the track in the opposite direction.
Since this is a key race for all the sponsors and wealthy that undergird the entire sport, I'm pretty sure Liberty will not be able to bring themselves to do the right, and morally astute racing move, and let this out of date and irrelevant track go.
The FIA won't want to make the track faster or have any less slowing corners because then the outright speed achieved makes it too risky for the stadium seated fans, and they don't want any more drivers crashing into the ocean. I appreciate the pressure Monaco puts on the drivers to be perfect, absolutely, but my god, it's not worth the integrity of the sport (and I know there's none of that left, but dare to dream dammit).
One stop, two stops, different tire compound demands...it does not seem to matter. So why not just go for it and make it a 6 stop mandatory race? Sure that's farcical, but not as bad as today with teams strategizing to hold up the entire field to make 1 free stop. With 6 stops to be done, there won't be time to build a large enough gap and all drivers will drive balls out the entire race. Even with a red flag, there would be so many stops to make it would not matter till very late in the race.
