Mercedes AMG F1 W03

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

the positiv thing is, michael did 85 laps without a problem and they can find a setup with which they can close this 1 sec gap to RB.

drawing a conclusion that the gap b/w RB and MGP is 1 seconds is not a gd idea knowing that there are way too many variables to be taken into consideration. this is testing guys not qualifying. 92 laps and counting for michael :D

Looking at the angled drive shafts the Mercedes gearbox must be much lower than last year.

Being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, competing to win...

Well I'm usually the first to scream 'it's only testing!', I am very worried at this stage, however. Those times are very poor, although consistency seems to have picked up a little in the latest stint. I expect Red Bull to be at least a second to 1.2 seconds ahead. If they are both on a similar programme.

you cant make a call on the 1 sec difference.....MS is now on his 40-ish lap...which means that IF that car was filled to the brim it has to be quite a bit lighter than it was 40 laps ago..the start of the races sim...and he is still running very consistent 1.29s ish times. Id say they have to be toying around with engine maps to slow the car down as the fuel goes down..otherwise ANYONE in the pitlane could go determine how much speed they gained over the stint...IMHO
EDIT. 45 laps as of now..still 1.29 ish

Does anybody know how much fuel has MS or Webber on their race simulation?
So times could be easily misleading ...

Another thing is the fact that this year Pirelli have better tyres ... at least 0,3-0,5s/lap quicker, driver says ...

One positive I can see, half race sim done and for all the concern about burnt body work yesterday, the car does not have any fins neither has it caught fire yet. :D

I don`t get it: why these burn-marks are so low ?

Over 100 laps today guys, not bad! At least they're doing a race sim on their 3rd official day of testing their new car...better than what Ferrari are doing :)

I think there seems to have been a pit stop on 101-102. No timings as earlier lap 67
