I'd love to know how much downforce that's actually producing. A few 10s of N at most, surely.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Given that Mercedes seemingly spent significant amounts of time and money from their limited budget in order to develop their solution, clearly enough for the cost/benefit tradeoff to make sense.
