Williams FW36 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Isn't that a pretty extreme amount of "outwash" on that diffuser??

I removed the image tags, leaving a link instead, to keep things overviewable.

I think that's the standard on the grid right now, there are some good pictures of the Merc floor in the respective thread and the "turn" the diffuser makes is pretty extreme as well.

No, Toto Wolff made a deal between Mercedes and Williams for space to showcase the Mercedes brand.

This car's desgin looks dated.. They need a new pilosophy for their front wing among others.
As the season wears on, it will be more obvious that the engine was the main reason for the good early performances.
I don't think the car is up to par aerodynamically with the front runners.
For Sure!!

Right, and that's why they're ahead of McLaren and Force India.

I said for now, but not for long. And i think they have pace on low speed tracks. I don't think the car has the balance for high speed.
For Sure!!

You are right. The car clearly lacks ellipses.

We shall soon find out if that is indeed the case.

Front wing looks pretty much on par with most standard wings in the paddock. We always have extreme wings like Red Bull and wings like Toro Rosso who havent changed their wing in like 3 years.
