Mercedes AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Spoon-shaped RW is back, in a higher downforce configuration compared to Baku:

Looks like the exact same wing to me taken from a slightly different height....what makes you think its a different rear wing?
Yeah, me too. Can't see any difference.

It’s mentioned on his Twitter page, could be he noticed a slight difference since he is there

Yes, or he is looking for clicks...

I remember taking photos of a car at Silverstone in, ooh, 2001. Took them to a friend who was working for a different team. "yeah, we saw that last race".

Online photos are a piss poor metric.

The one marked 'Silverstone' seems to have a flatter middle section. Use the T-wing as a visual reference. You'll see that the one marked 'Baku' has constant curvature, with no section parallel to the T-wing.

Not to throw dirt on the previous posters, but here's a shovel analogy:

Silverstone is a square nose. Baku was a round nose.

Absolutely.

The central section on the lower mainplane on the Silverstone-spec has a flatter leading edge, as both Steven and you noted..

The main purpose of these bargeboards is for managing airflow when the car is on a straight line or when it`s on a yaw? From my side, it looks they are quite draggy from the lateral point of view ...

I wonder if they want to use a particularly fancy camera but to do so they need to make it be part of a mirror assembly?

It's in exactly the same spot from what I can see. The two pictures are at a slightly different angle. You can compare the placement of things with other reference points; e.g. the T-wing intersects the "77" in the same spot in both pictures (in the middle of the horizontal line that makes up a "7").
