Death, taxes, and trolling/whining about Merc whether they win or lose. Tradition for this forum lol.
Hamilton almost made it, but in the end couldn't help himself to again made insinuations of supposed engine upgrade. The thing that's impossible you know (the upgrade). Check last 15 seconds in case you turned off telly before the interview:

I still feel like Mercedes is at least equally fast as Red Bull. It's just Verstappen who is making the RB16B look like so dominant. Verstappen was only 2 tenths slower on the 30+ old Hard tyres than Perez on the fresh medium tyres.
Noticed this as well, 2 tenths off on 35 old hards. Verstappen basically did to Perez what he's been doing to albon and gasly.
I noticed that too. Max is just special. If they switched cars Max and Lewis, Max would be further ahead in the title race. Probably would have won all the races so far.
Yeah, Max would have even won in the championship in the 2020 Redbull car. Or would have a been on the podium with the 2021 Williams today!

But they clearly could “upgrade” the engine with better reliability. And with better reliability, you can theoretically run the engine harder.

So nothing he said is false. He didn’t say anything remotely untoward.

The lengths some of you go to stretch benign comments into accusations is getting a little out of hand.
Why did Toto call Hamilton in effect stupid for making that kind of suggestion? Why did Toto say it was down to the rear wing. Same what Horner said who thought Hamilton was being ridiculous.

You can also add Hamilton made similar accusations about 6 tenths through the rear wing. So his conspiracy theory has already been proven totally wrong & ridiculous (about the rear wing).

Hamilton is used to having a car many tenths ahead & an engine far ahead. So when there's not much difference between Honda & Mercedes & when there's not much difference between Mercedes & RB Chassis (probably 1-2 tenths here n there), he is gonna crib & cry. It has been 4 years since he had to fight to win a Championship.

Anyways this is great for the fans. You either have a new champion (it is time for a new era - Last 10 years only Vettel, Rosberg & Hamilton have won) or you have a brilliant fightback from Hamilton & Mercedes. There hasn't been a young champion since Vettel.

People have won championship with worse cars. Alonso almost won in 2012 with a Ferrari which on an average was close to a second slower. In 2005, Mclaren had a clearly quicker car then Renault but had reliability issues & Renault/Alonso won. The Benetton/MSC cars in 94/95 were both slower than Williams.

1 or 2 tenths is nothing !

You don't make up 1s or 1.5s deficit. MSC won with a far slower can than Lewis' Mercedes - quite a few tenths slower IMO. Alonso almost won in 2012 (2 points odd loss) when his car was 1s slower on average (the gap came down at the end but was a still multiple tenths - Much slower). And even 2005 Alonso. Mclaren clearly many tenths ahead mostly but the car was bad at reliability & Alonso was in his peak maximizing everything.

You could argue Mika & Eddie Irvine as well given Ferrari won the Constructors. The Ferrari-Mclaren gap was also too low (MSC 2 points) & Mclaren had a good car. A 1 tenth gap or at best 2 tenths (Bottas beat Perez btw) is perfectly manageable!

You forget Webber's terrible season Seb won the WDC by 100+ points in 2013 in the dominant RB9?. Beat Webber by 100+ points in 2011 and 2012 as well. If that is the standard then Perez is actually doing well, he has won a race and routinely finishes races well. Verstappen is just the fastest driver on the grid.
Red Bull dominant on 2013? Is that why Mercedes got half the poles?

This forum is getting to new levels today. 2012 as a dominant year for RB?????? :? The year in which most teams were winning races(even Maldonado with Williams) and that Alonso almost won the WDC despite starting the year with worst car, bar FI and the new teams(HRT......)?

When RB was dominant(notably quicker than the rest), Webber was up there with Vettel, on 2nd, and sometimes on pole too.(his typically awful starts are another matter.......)

Perhaps he is referring to running a smaller rear wing. Like they did themselves in Baku. Sacrifice some cornering speed for straight line speed. They have another chance, but if they win next weekend I'll honestly be very surprised.

Sure, one comment is no big deal, but Hamilton and wolf are seemingly on a crusade to convince everyone Honda in the midst of engine freeze brought some incredible upgrade that single headedly propelled red bull ahead of mercedes, while somehow staying oblivious to red bull running half the wing nearly every race so far.
Verstappen even jokingly said he's about to print out their skinny wings and give pictures to every reporter that asks him about this imaginary "upgrade".
Honda did have an upgarde on their lubricants and Fuel

https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/87376/ne ... -this.html

Why getting worked up for a comment said by Toto and Lewis? isnt it true that an engine upgrade from oil, fuel or any ancillary parts being upgrade will give you upgraded engine performance?

You can tell it's a dull race with little meaningful going on in it when the comments in the race thread are basically just arguments about driver comments etc., and nothing about the race itself. or should that be

The points are won on Sundays, where you are racing for nearly 2 hours the faster cars will usually show out. If they award points for qualification, then perhaps Merc would have won in 2013. And no 2012 was not dominant, obviously, I was referring to Seb beating Webber by 100+ points 3 seasons straight. Scored almost twice as many points as him in the season when the RB9 was dominant (2013). If the standard is Mark Webber, then Perez is doing well.

The RB is currently the dominant car.

Not slightly better. Dominant.
If that´s the case then Perez is doing almost as bad as RIC while BOT is doing very well(qualified 2nd, started 5th and finished 3rd)

I cannot remember a driver with such results as Perez´s while driving a "dominant car", I suppose it´s a first on F1(Rosberg, Bottas, Webber... they all did much better with their dominant machinery)
Don't you dare bring logic to bust the narrative. 😂😜
With that logic, 2017, 2018 seasons were not Merc domination years
look at where Bottas finished in those two seasons
Thank you for that

Is it. I think it is extremely close. Merc still, again on P2 and P3. As they have been (two cars in the top 3) on most normal race tracks. Come race day Mercedes has had the quicker car most races as well. Like last race. But there an very unexpected undercut and a second stop caught them off guard.
The driver can make ten times more difference in the race, I agree. =D> this is why we see one Merc in particular close up to the Bull on race days. Experience and mastery with managing tyres. Good observation my guy. 8)

True, but these kind off gamesmanship has been seen ever since the dawn of motorsports; Senna would say similar things about the williams when he was in the Mclaren; and when he switched to Williams he was saying similar things about the Benetton etc etc.
Only now the problem is the online cancel culture who are letting them fall into the trap...moslty coz of the demographics and the anonymity of online media

Mercedes and Hamilton are gonna rue all those points lost with cheap mistakes by the looks of it.
