2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix - Jeddah, March 25 - 27

Post

I will open the new topic because ladies and gentlemen: ,,it is race week" :D

What do you think about Mercedes problems? Could they have bigger problems than in Bahrain??? The high-speed corners should be a nightmare for W13.... a terryfing nightmmare.... but the fact that the track surface is very smooth without many bumps can it compensate to some extend the problems because of the straights and high speed corners?

Tyres are C2, C3, C4.
Turbo says "Dumpster sounds so much more classy. It's the diamond of the cesspools." oh, and "The Dutch fans are drunk. Maybe"

I recently read an article about it:

I think they have made some changes to make it safer.

I think they might go for a medium-low DF setup like RB did on some tracks on 2014 in a similar situation.

Hamilton seem to be fast on this track. With some SC/Red flag they might be in the mix like yersteday !

Which teams do you think this track will suit (or not)?

The guys over the Merc thread are saying that because of the smooth surface, they might just be able to lower the car and by doing so they wont have to compensate with too much rear wing like they had to in Bahrain. Power wise the Merc unit seems a bit behind but overall reliable.

RBs had to run less wing to fight the Ferrari power. Ferrari will run less wing here and their engine power will be ominous

I don't think the level of porpoising of the Merc has something to do with the track surface honestly. The car was affected even on quite smooth surface of the track it was just bouncing everywhere.
We'll see, nevertheless their car is too "dragy" compared to the Ferrari, like in 2019.

According to AMuS, the smoother surface will help Mercedes with the bouncing. Also, there won't be such a critical need for downforce as in Bahrain, so theoretically, it should be better for them.
