I read that when the team got the car back they found the exhaust pipe had been damaged by a curb strike and that in turn overheated the battery but that hasn’t been officially confirmed by the team yet.

I had a look at Lances onboards before he stopped and he did have one off when being chased by the Ferrari and sizeable bump coming back on track so it’s possible.

If you follow the Moving F1 staff posts, you'll see that 3 aero guys have left Aston in the last 10 days mostly to McLaren
Good. That means, they can recruit few more RB or Merc guys :D :D
AM is cash rich , elevated itself to top F1 team & going to a brand new facility. It wont be difficult for them to hire talented people from other teams(including Drivers  ).
I like this post.
AMR hired Fallows, plus RBR head of aero, plus Merc head of aero ......they cann't keep all those aero guys !

According to Fabrega no new rear wing for Australia in the end.

The report from the italian formu1a.uno said either Australia or Baku.

So how's the team looking here? Should the gap to Red Bull be smaller?

RB has a lot of pace on the straights. Something like 7-10km/h everywhere that the DRS is open. Alonso is likely for P3 qualy unless there is a miracle.

I think with the cold temperatures there could be some surprises in Qualifying - it's not a given that Red Bull will get the tyres to work in these conditions. Although Ferrari is probably more likely to benefit, going by their tendency to (over)heat the rears.

Ferrari seem to mask some of their issues with a brand new set of softs so there's always the chance of a Ferrari jumping ahead in qualy.

Alonso was flying here last year in an Alpine before it broke, twice...I'm not guaranteeing any specific result, but they'll have a chance to beat Ferrari and maybe even Perez.

I think Alonso can get pole or front row at least and again secure podium on Sunday. I am doubtful of him fighting Perez, but this is as good of a chance as any as checo seems to be struggling and may qualify lower down

Long run pace looks good for Aston. If stroll puts together a good quali lap he could be just behind the podium (or on it with a bit of luck)

Shame about P4, Mercs look pretty quick as well. Reminds me of Bahrain a bit, starting behind both of them, but I hope Fernando can pass both tomorrow on race pace and hopefully get P2

What the heck happened? Easy P2 got slipped away. This was great opportunity for alonso to open up gap to perez and make it into a title fight. Somehow fernando does not max out like others in Q3. If he wants to fight for championship he needs to bring extra tenths

The issue was that for the final runs in Q3, there was no time for a prep lap. For the rest of qualifying, everyone was just pounding in laps on the same set. For final q3 runs when the fastest times were set, it was done with just an outlap

They all fueled for the first run to end as the rain was forecast to come. So everyone boxed with 4min left.

Then when coming out again there was time only for the outlap into push lap. This took things towards Merc who could fire the tyres up quicker. Might punish em tomorrow

There's not going to be a title fight. No upgrades in 3 races and whole team needs to move to the new factory which will take quite a bit of time in May.
This is the first qualy he was ahead of both Ferraris, but this time it was the Mercs who found a little bit more on one lap, probably explained by what organic said (thank you for the analysis)
Also, Stroll 0-3 compared to Fernando so far. Hamilton is also 0-3 to Russell which is interesting.
