McLaren eyes a Brazilian 1-2

McLaren eye their first one-two for five years as they head to Brazil for a make-or-break weekend at Interlagos. Raikkonen, whose three wins in four races have only cut Alonso's Championship lead by 11 points, knows what is expected of him.

Kimi Raikkonen "With only three races remaining nothing but another win will do for me in Brazil this weekend. I will be pushing hard to get maximum points for both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships."
Kimi's team mate, Juan Pablo Montoya, hopes to do as well as last year, when he won the Brazilian Grand Prix in front of the Finn.

Juan Pablo Montoya "Myself and Kimi had a great battle here last year and hopefully we can dominate again this weekend by taking 18 points away from Brazil, which is what we need for the Championship

Marin Whitmarsh is determined to finally celebrate a one-two of his team.
Marin Whitmarsh, Chief Executive "Our main aim at McLaren-Mercedes is to leave the Brazilian Grand Prix having secured a one-two podium finish, and we know we have the performance to achieve this. The current strength of the package is a testament to the work that has been taking place all year in Woking, Brixworth, Stuttgart and on the test track, and we need to take this and optimise our position in the fight for both Championships. We came so close to taking the lead in the Constructors' Championship at Spa, however were hampered by matters out of our control, however we are looking to make amends in Brazil."

Renaults Fernando Alonso is only a breath away from making F1 history as the youngest man to win the World Championship but the Spaniard insists the pressure of McLaren's dominance is not getting him.
Fernando Alonso "For sure, I am quite close now to the Championship, but I approach this race like any other. We have been quick in Brazil in recent years, and now our car is even stronger in every area. So I am looking forward to the race."

While the Drivers' Championship looks a foregone conclusion, the battle for Constructors' honours remains close, with just six points between leaders Renault from McLaren. It promises to be a very thrilling end of the season, with only 3 oversea races to go.
