Consistency of F1.08 is decisive factor for BMW's rise

Going into the summer break with a current tally of 90 World Championship points, the BMW Sauber F1 Team already has its previous best points total, which it achieved last season, in sight. One reason for the strong performances by Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica is the high degree of reliability of the F1.08.

Formula One has already staged eleven races this season, meaning a Formula One driver could theoretically have completed 708 laps by the summer break. No driver has actually achieved this figure, but two have come very close - the two BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers.

With 704 laps completed, Nick heads the Formula One reliability rankings ahead of his Polish team-mate, who has 676 laps under his belt. This means the two BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers have completed a total of 1380 laps - far more than their closest competitors in this regard, McLaren (1317) and Ferrari (1299).

The consistency of the BMW Sauber F1.08 is a decisive factor in the BMW Sauber F1 Team's dramatic rise into the top three teams in Formula One. The team from Munich and Hinwil has not suffered a single technical fault in any of the races in 2008 so far. In the meantime, the team has picked up World Championship points in 29 Grands Prix in succession - a sequence stretching back as far as the first race of last season, on 18th March 2007.
