Despite losing his Ferrari seat to Lewis Hamilton at the end of last season, former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz defended the Scuderia's team boss Fred Vasseur, rejecting media-driven turmoil.

Following a successful end to their 2024 F1 season, Ferrari had been expected to contend for titles this season. However, the Italian team has endured a hugely disappointing start to the 2025 campaign despite signing Lewis Hamilton to partner Charles Leclerc.

Ahead of last weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, reports in Italy claimed that Vasseur's position was under threat, suggesting that the Frenchman might lose his position at the end of the current season.

Vasseur himself then offered his take, explaining that the talk is "disrespectful" and "very harsh" and it might have a negative effect on the Italian team as it can destabilize the Maranello-based squad.

Despite losing his Ferrari seat to Lewis Hamilton, former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz defended Vasseur, rejecting media-driven turmoil.

“It’s the same story as always. The moment that the results don’t click in Ferrari, there’s always finger-pointing by the media and all this chaos happening.”

“For me, it’s all about focusing on the process and delivering when it matters," Sainz continued.

Signing off with a word for his relationship with Vasseur after his shock exit from the Maranello-based outfit, Sainz said: "I have a great relationship with him.

"Obviously, we went through a tough month where he didn’t want me and signed Lewis, but apart from that, we made peace about it. I’ve always rated him as a team principal and as a person.”
