Badoer and Genè continue with test programme at Barcelona

Second day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya with nine out of the ten Formula One teams on the track. Today's test session started under a grey sky and some dark clouds. For the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro the official test drivers Luca Badoer and Marc Gené went on the track also today.

Both continued the work they had started yesterday. While Luca is working on the engine's and the gearbox's reliability, Marc dedicated his tests to the set up and the slicks. The difference in their programs could also be seen in the laps driven: Marc has a limited mileage available, so he just did nine laps in the morning before the lunch break, while Luca already drove 69. These are the best lap times by the two Ferraristi: 1.22.425 for the Italian and 1.22.898 for the Spaniard.

The fastest man on the track was again Takuma Sato. He stopped the clock with his Toro Rosso on the second day of testing at 1.20.017. It's still almost impossible to evaluate the cars' performances on the track, because the teams not only have different programs but also different set ups. Today was the first day for Pedro De La Rosa, the McLaren test driver, with Force India. Probably the Spanish driver wanted to feel the World Champion's engine, which had been fitted into the Force India cars over the last two years. He arrived with the team based in Silverstone for the last days of testing here at Barcelona.
