Reduced team spending saved my seat - Bourdais

According to Sebastien Bourdais the recent cost cutting measures employed by Formula One teams have allowed him to keep his race seat at the Scuderia Toro Rosso. This because the STR and Red Bull teams have jointly been able to reduce operating costs by nearly $100 million.

Bourdais shared with French newspaper 'L'Equipe': "Initially sponsorship was essential, but after all the cost-cutting measures came into force it was clear Red Bull could save $100million across both teams. Then the sponsorship wasn't as big an issue and I was back at the top of the list."

Adding the if it was not for the cost cuts he would have been unable to find the necessary sponsorship due to the current state of the world economy.
