It is not for the FIA to design cars - Surer

Former Formula One driver Marc Surer has voiced his opinion of the FIA and their involvement in the design of the cars, in that they create the regulations instead of inforcing them. And is hoping that Mosley's plans don't lead to a spec series, which would greatly end up affecting interest in the series.

Surer told Swiss magazine 'Automobil Revue': "When I hear about Mosley’s plans, I think the FIA should not be designing the cars."

“It is not for them to prescribe how an engine should perform and make everyone use the same transmission. I hope F1 does not move towards being a spec-series because I think the interest would reduce.”

Surer now works as a commentator for German-language television.
