Donington upgrade going to be very good - Wahl

A partner in Herman Tilke's design group, Peter Wahl, has given his word that the new Donington track will feature very exciting racing, at a similar level to when Ayrton Senna won the European GP back in 1993. Thus raising the expectations considerably for the revamped circuit, which will see Formula One action once again starting in 2010.

"Donington presented a big challenge," Wahl told 'ITV-F1', "there are the big spectator banks, the tradition of the flowing downhill section at Craner Curves to the Old Hairpin, the racing through what is like a country garden, but then we have to provide the new sections."

"We had a lot of fun - Herman is a racing driver so we added many features and are confident that the new circuit will be very good," he added.

Speaking of the new design while keeping the circuits traditions in tact he said, "We have done it in such a way that it will be as interesting as when Ayrton Senna won the 1993 Grand Prix of Europe there in 1993, and that was the best race ever."
