Overtaking will hopefully be a lot easier - Heidfeld

According to Nick Heidfeld of the BMW Sauber F1 team, overtaking could be a lot simpler in 2009. This thanks to the many aerodynamic changes made to the current technical regulations, which were done in order to clean up the wake and allow cars to run closer without their aero being disturbed as much.

"This week, I finally got a chance to actually tail another car. In Valencia, all the test runs were solo. I have the impression that the new aerodynamics are going to make it easier to close in on the driver ahead, just as we had hoped," Heidfeld told his personal website.

"This should certainly make overtaking a lot simpler. I'm hoping that this suspicion will be confirmed over the weeks to come."

Pre-season testing will re-start next week at Jerez.
