BMW Sauber F1 Team driver Robert Kubica would like to land his BMW Sauber F1.09 in the points for the first time at the fourth race of the 2009 Formula One season: the Bahrain Grand Prix. The 24-year-old will be keeping a keen eye on the weather conditions in the Arab desert, as these proved particularly hostile during winter testing.

"I am looking forward to travelling to Bahrain," said Robert Kubica, just days before training gets underway in Sakhir. "Overall I rally like the track, although it is not really challenging. The Bahrain International Circuit has a couple of long straights and three characteristically low-speed corners that require heavy braking," the Pole continued, explaining the layout of the "Bahrain International Circuit".

The 5.412km circuit was constructed in the middle of the Arab desert. As a result, teams must pay particular attention to external influences during their preparations. "Wind can play an important role in Sakhir, as it influences the balance of the car," says Robert. "Also, the wind blows sand onto parts of the track, which leads to changing grip conditions."

"Luckily we had the chance to test the F1.09 car in Bahrain in February, although weather conditions were unstable and windy then," the Pole recalls. The 2008 results will fill boost Robert's confidence: "Last year we performed quite well in Bahrain - after securing pole position in qualifying, I managed to finish the race on the podium."
