For the first time during the 2009 World Championship season, the Brawn GP team suffered reliability problems. Rubens Barrichello was the victim of a gearbox problem and was forced to retire the race. After his bad luck today, Barrichello starts to see conspiracy theories as he believes bad luck only comes to him and never to his team mate, Jenson Button.

After the race Barrichello said: "It appears to be a gearbox problem it was the wrong calculation for the clutch, then with antistall I couldn't get going. Then I was on the limiter halfway through the straight, and competing with KERS cars with that is hard. Frustrating as it's been happening too much to my car."
