Tomorrow, the appeal of the Renault F1 Team against their exclusion from the European Grand Prix at Valencia takes place in Paris. At the Bavaria City Racing event, we asked Red Bull Racing ambassador and reserve driver David Coulthard what he thinks about Renault's possible race ban.

Coulthard said: "The reality is, the FIA stewards are like referees in football, whether you like it or not, you have to accept the decisions they make. That's the first thing."

However, the Scot continued by giving his personal opinion, and suggested that a penalty different from a race ban would be more appropriate.

"My personal opinion is that it would be very damaging for the sport not to have Alonso and Renault in valencia because it is the second Spanish GP and a lot of people want to see their home driver. But they can't make special situations for Alonso and Renault. They have to take a decision and respect it whether it is Fernando Alonso and Renault or another team."

"But there are only 20 cars on the grid so it is very difficult to make a decision to only see 18 cars because who pays the penalty? Renault can no longer win the championship this year, it doesn't stop their championship, but it may force the board to come out of F1 and then of course the fans miss the oppportunity to see the cars out on circuit. So I hope they find a penalty which is the right penalty but doesn't stop them from racing."
