Di Montezemolo convinced of Ferrari's neutrality in F1

The election of Jean Todt as the Federations President caused numerous reactions, also on the Ferrari website. There were several comments in the forum on www.ferrari.com, mainly positive, although also doubts were raised if the election of the former Ferrari CEO will be positive or negative for the Scuderia, considering also Todt’s farewell from Maranello, which, according to rumours, wasn’t exactly positive.

Chairman di Montezemolo wanted to intervene personally on the website as far as this topic is concerned, removing any doubts: "I’m very happy that Todt, a person who worked so well over 16 years here in Maranello and with whom I have a very amicable relationship, has been elected into such an important and crucial position for Formula 1’s future. Ferrari always wanted to keep a neutral position in the electoral competition, where it wasn’t involved in any way in first person and never wanted to reply to many, completely unfunded, speculations.

"Now we hope that the Federation knows how to renew itself and contribute to Formula 1’s new era, while keeping the characteristics, which made it to one of the most popular sports in the world, untouched. I’m convinced that Todt, with his capacities and his dedication, knows how to reach this goal."
