V8 to improve Renault

Renault's technical boss Pat Symonds says that next year's Formula One rule changes will make his team even stronger. The V10 era is over and the engines will be replaced by 2,4 litre V8 engines conform with the new 2006 rules.

Pat Symonds, Technical manager "While we had a great car-engine-driver team last season, the engine was a little bit old fashioned. It was heavier and had a higher centre of gravity than most so the 2.4-litre V8s have levelled the playing field."

Renault will bring their new car out early in January in a bid to get up to speed with the engine changes before the season starts in March.
"We had a hard push to the end of the championship this year so it has been pretty intense, there's a lot going on. We are very busy but it will all be worthwhile I hope," said Symonds. I think as a team we have always come out of change very well, we react to change very well.
