D'Ambrosio edging closer to F1 seat

Jerôme D'Ambrosio, the GP2 driver currently driving for DAMS is edging closer to a Formula One contract in 2011. The Belgian will also test a Renault F1 car at Abu Dhabi this year at a test where youngsters are given a chance.

D'Ambrosio is currently managed by Gravity Sport Management, a company owned by Genii which also happens to be the current owner of Renault F1. Just like his teammate in GP2, Ho Pin Tung, D'Ambrosio is the official test driver for Renault this year.

Apart from the test with Renault after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the 24-year old is reported to have a Formula One contract on the table already. When speaking to Belgian newspaper 'Het Laatste Nieuws', Jerôme said this to be a once in a lifetime chance. The contract offered to him is surprisingly not from Renault, but instead from Virgin Racing who want €5 million of sponsorship for the seat. Money that D'Ambrosio does not have, yet.
