Ferrari's Carlos Sainz headed the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in the sole one-hour practice session at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

With this weekend sporting the special sprint format, drivers only had a single practice session to get their cars ready for the race action. However, the one-hour practice at Spa-Francorchamps was affected by heavy, consistent rain, making any meaningful running very difficult

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz emerged fastest, putting his Ferrari at the top of the timesheets. As the Spaniard, the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris also used the green-walled intermediate tyres to set their fastest times which put them second and third quickest respectively.

Charles Leclerc ended the session in P4 on wet weather tyres, although he was on a very quick lap when yellow flags were deployed.

Halfway the session, the practice was briefly red-flagged after Logan Sargeant collided with the barriers at the of the Kemmel Straight.

Championship runaway leader, Max Verstappen, who is set to serve a five-place grid drop for exceeding his gearbox allocation, did not set a timed lap.
