Colapinto shared the Zandvoort circuit with Norris and Piastri as he completed a test outing ahead of his F1 return

On the back of Alpine's decision to replace Jack Doohan with Franco Colapinto from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix onwards, the Argentine has completed a test outing with the Enstone-based outfit at Zandvoort.

Just six races into the 2025 F1 season, Alpine have decided to drop Jack Doohan for the next five Formula 1 races and replace the Australian with Franco Colapinto with immediate effect.

The Enstone-based outfit made the decision to axe Doohan following last Sunday's Miami Grand Prix. The Australian has not scored any points so far in 2025, having recorded his best result with a 13th-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix.

The Argentine replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams from last year's Italian Grand Prix onwards, but he lost his seat to Carlos Sainz following the Spaniard's departure from Ferrari. However, the former F2 driver was brought in as a reserve driver at Alpine.

Having spent the opening six races on the sidelines, Colapinto will now get back behind the wheel of an F1 car. The Argentine has now collected a two-day test outing at Zandvoort under the Testing of Previous Cars rules.

It was not the first occasion for Colapinto to drive an Alpine F1 car. On the same day as this year's Japanese Grand Prix, Alpine took along an older 2023 A523 to the Monza circuit in Italy, where Paul Aron and Colapinto completed a two-day test with a two-year-old car.

Alpine was not alone at the Zandvoort circuit as it shared the track with McLaren. The Woking-based outift worked with its academy driver Alex Dunne on the first day while its regular drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris got behind the wheel of the car on the second day of running on Thursday.
